I. Doctrine and God cannot be separated
To reject Christ's doctrine is to reject God Himself. The Father and Son come together — you cannot have one while dismissing the other's teachings.
II. The covenant is the doctrine
As Exodus 24 shows the covenant dedicated by blood, Christ dedicated His doctrine with His own blood. The terms of that covenant are His teachings.
III. This is not legalism — it is love
"If you love Me, keep My commandments." (John 14:15) The obedient heart is the grateful heart, not the proud heart.
