The Plan of Salvation

What Must I Do
to Be Saved?

The most important question a human soul will ever ask — and God has answered it clearly in His Word.

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."

The Biblical Path

Six Steps God Has Revealed

These are not the traditions of men. They are the clearly revealed commands of God, drawn directly from the New Testament. Each step matters. Together, they complete the obedience of faith.

Biblical steps clearly revealed in the New Testament

One Way

"I am the way, the truth, and the life." — John 14:6

Eternal Life

The gift of God — received through the obedience of faith

Walk Through Each Step

The Six Steps to Salvation

God's plan is not hidden. Let His Word speak plainly to your heart.

1
1
Step One
Hear

"So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God."

Romans 10:17

You Must Hear the Gospel

Salvation begins not with what we do, but with what God has already done — and that story must be heard. The gospel is not discovered within ourselves; it is proclaimed from without. God chose the foolishness of preaching to save those who believe.

To "hear" in the biblical sense means more than sound reaching your ears. It means receiving, considering, and opening your heart to the message of Christ crucified, buried, and raised on the third day.

1 Cor. 15:1–4 "Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day."
Acts 2:22 "Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a Man attested by God to you by miracles, wonders, and signs…"
What This Means for You

You are hearing the Word right now. God is calling you through this very page. Will you receive what He is saying to your heart?

2
2
Step Two
Believe

"If you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your sins."

John 8:24

You Must Believe in Christ

Biblical belief is far more than intellectual acknowledgment. Even the demons believe and tremble (James 2:19). True saving faith is a whole-person trust — mind, heart, and will surrendering to the truth that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, the risen Savior, and the only Lord.

To believe means to be convinced enough to act. Saving faith is sitting down in Christ — entrusting your eternal soul to Him completely.

Heb. 11:6 "Without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him."
John 3:36 "He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life."
What This Means for You

Do you believe Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God? This is the confession upon which your salvation and His church rest.

3
3
Step Three
Repent

"God commands all men everywhere to repent."

Acts 17:30

You Must Repent of Sin

Repentance is not merely feeling sorry — it is a decisive turning. The Greek word metanoia means a change of mind that leads to a change of direction. It is the soul saying, "I am going the wrong way, and by God's grace, I will turn around."

God commands repentance — a genuine decision to forsake sin and walk toward righteousness. This is not about perfection; it is about direction. The will surrendering to Christ's lordship over every area of life.

Luke 13:3 "Unless you repent you will all likewise perish."
2 Cor. 7:10 "Godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death."
What This Means for You

Is there sin in your life you have been unwilling to release? Repentance opens the door. God's grace meets us at the turning point.

4
4
Step Four
Confess

"With the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."

Romans 10:10

You Must Confess Christ Before Men

Faith that stays hidden is faith that has not yet fully blossomed. Jesus said plainly: "Whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father in heaven." (Matthew 10:32)

The good confession — "I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God" — is a public declaration of allegiance. It is the moment inward faith becomes outward commitment. The Ethiopian eunuch made this confession before his baptism, standing as the pattern for all who come to Christ.

Acts 8:37 "I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God."
1 Tim. 6:12 "Lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses."
What This Means for You

Are you willing to declare, openly and without shame, that Jesus Christ is the Son of God? This is the great confession.

5
5
Step Five
Be
Baptized

"Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins."

Acts 2:38

You Must Be Baptized for Forgiveness

Baptism is not a symbol performed after salvation — the New Testament consistently presents it as the moment God's forgiveness is applied and the believer enters Christ. The blood shed at Calvary reaches the soul in the waters of baptism.

Biblical baptism is immersion in water, in the name of Jesus Christ, for the remission of sins. This is how one is "buried with Him in baptism" and "raised to walk in newness of life" (Romans 6:4). This is the new birth of water and Spirit Jesus spoke of in John 3:5.

Mark 16:16 "He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned."
Gal. 3:27 "As many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ."
1 Pet. 3:21 "Baptism now saves us… the answer of a good conscience toward God, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ."
What This Means for You

Have you been scripturally baptized — immersed in water for the forgiveness of your sins? If not, this is God's invitation. Do not delay what He commands.

6
6
Step Six
Live
Faithfully

"Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life."

Revelation 2:10

You Must Walk Faithfully Until the End

Salvation is not a one-time transaction — it is a covenant relationship maintained through faithful living. The New Testament is clear: those who endure to the end will be saved (Matthew 24:13). The Christian life is a race to be run, a fight to be fought, a faith to be kept.

This is not earned righteousness or sinless perfection. It is the perseverance of genuine faith — continuing in Christ's doctrine, gathering with His body, growing in grace, returning to Him through repentance whenever we fall.

2 Tim. 4:7–8 "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness."
Heb. 10:23 "Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful."
What This Means for You

The Christian life does not end at baptism — it begins. You are called to a lifetime of growing, worshiping, serving, and walking with the Lord who saved you.

What God Promises

For Those Who Obey the Gospel

The gospel is not a burden — it is the best news ever announced. For those who respond in faith and obedience, God's promises are magnificent and certain.

Forgiveness of All Past Sins

At baptism, every sin you have ever committed is washed away — completely and permanently. You begin your new life with a clean slate before God.

"Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins." — Acts 22:16

The Gift of the Holy Spirit

God Himself comes to dwell within you — guiding, comforting, empowering, and interceding. You are never alone in the Christian walk.

"You shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." — Acts 2:38

Adoption into God's Family

You become a child of God — an heir of eternal life, a member of His church, with brothers and sisters around the world who will walk with you.

"You are all sons of God through faith in Christ." — Gal. 3:26

The Hope of Resurrection

As Christ was raised, so shall you be. Death is no longer the final word. The grave cannot hold those who are in Christ Jesus.

"He who raised Christ… will also give life to your mortal bodies." — Rom. 8:11

Peace That Passes Understanding

In Christ you discover why you were created, how to live, and where you are going — an anchor for the soul in every storm of life.

"The peace of God, which surpasses all understanding." — Phil. 4:7

Eternal Life in Heaven

A home prepared by Christ Himself — an inheritance incorruptible, undefiled, and that does not fade away, reserved for the faithful.

"I go to prepare a place for you." — John 14:2
Common Questions

Questions People Ask

We answer them plainly, from the Word of God alone.

Isn't faith alone enough for salvation?

+

The phrase "faith alone" appears only once in the entire New Testament — and it is a denial: "A man is justified by works, and not by faith only." (James 2:24)

Saving faith is never alone. It always produces obedience. Hearing, repenting, confessing, and being baptized are not works of human merit — they are the obedience of faith in response to God's gracious command. Abraham "obeyed by faith" (Hebrews 11:8). Faith that does not act is dead.

Is baptism really necessary for salvation?

+

Jesus said, "Unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God." (John 3:5). Peter commanded, "Repent and be baptized… for the remission of sins." (Acts 2:38). Ananias told Paul, "Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins." (Acts 22:16)

Every case of conversion in Acts includes baptism. The consistent witness of the New Testament is that baptism is the moment God forgives sins and grants the Holy Spirit. To remove it is to alter the gospel.

Can I be saved if I was sprinkled as an infant?

+

Infant sprinkling is not found anywhere in the New Testament. Biblical baptism requires three things: a believing subject (faith precedes baptism — Mark 16:16), a conscious decision (repentance comes first — Acts 2:38), and immersion (the Greek word baptizo means to dip or immerse).

If you were sprinkled as an infant before you could believe or repent, you have not yet been scripturally baptized. We lovingly encourage you to be immersed now as a believer, in obedience to the clear pattern of the New Testament.

What if I sin after I'm baptized? Am I lost?

+

God's covenant is not cancelled by every mistake. "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." (1 John 1:9) The Christian who sins has an Advocate — Jesus Christ the righteous (1 John 2:1).

Occasional sins of weakness, met with genuine repentance, do not separate a Christian from God. What breaks the covenant is persistent, willful rebellion or abandoning faith entirely. The faithful Christian returns to God in prayer and repentance, and His grace meets them there.

Isn't this salvation by works? Isn't that legalism?

+

Legalism is attempting to earn salvation through human merit or adding human traditions to God's law. The obedience of faith is the opposite — it is a humble response to God's gracious commands, not a claim to deserve anything.

We cannot earn what Christ freely purchased with His blood. But we must respond to His gospel in the way He prescribed. Obedience does not replace grace; it is how grace reaches us. Christ is "the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him." (Hebrews 5:9)
